Dr. Timothy O. Wahl, received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska in 1971. He then entered the University of Nebraska College of Medicine where he was a Regents Scholar in 1973 and the recipient of the Roche Medical Student Award in 1974. After receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1974, he served an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center before completing a fellowship in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Genetics at the same institution.

Certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Dr. Wahl is the principle investigator in a number of drug studies, he has co-authored over thirty scientific articles and abstracts. He is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians and has served as a delegate to the Nebraska Medical Association for greater than twenty years. In addition he belongs to several other medical societies.

Dr. Wahl is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University Of Nebraska College of Medicine. He also serves as Medical Director for the Diabetes Education Center of the Midlands, where he has been a member of the board of directors since 1984 the year he helped to found the organization. He is a past member of the national board of directors for the American Diabetes Association and has been involved with this organization in numerous capacities over the years.

Since 1989 Dr. Wahl has been a member of the board of directors of the Nebraska Medical Education Fund, and for many years has served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Nebraska Foundation. He practiced at Internal Medicine Associates for many years and then began working at Diabetes & Endocrine Associates in 2005, a practice he started with Dr. Claire Baker.

Dr. Wahl and his wife Mary have two children, Andrew and Emily, and six grandchildren.
